MOHALI: A day after a 41-year-old hit-and-run victim died on the Panchkula-Zirakpur boundary after cops allegedly refused to help him over jurisdiction matters, PCR-11 in-charge head constable Ranbir Singh was removed from patrolling and transferred to guard duty.
Ranbir Singh, who was at the spot but allegedly did not offer help, claimed he had arranged an auto to take the victim to the hospital. "I arranged an auto and followed it in a PCR vehicle. After reaching the hospital, I admitted the victim to the hospital," he said. When asked why he did not take the victim to the hospital in a PCR vehicle, he said, "The PCR's seats were not comfortable for the victim. So, I arranged an auto." However, relatives of the victim alleged police did not provide any help.

Panchkula DCP Abhishek Jorwal said, "I called the head constable to my office and issued his transfer orders after questioning him."
