Terrorism has become quite commonplace in most parts of the world. Terror acts make breaking news and they are published on the front pages of newspapers. The stories about fight against terrorism, however, remain largely in the background. Only a few find their way to the media and even these are quickly forgotten. Vishwaroop 2 is one such story that showcases the fight against terror. The story delves deep into the complexities involved in the fight against terror, which are seldom discussed in media and are largely unknown to the common man. Vishwaroop 2 was supposed to be a sequel to the original movie Vishwaroop that was released in 2013. However, it serves equally as the prequel and sequel since the movie presents both before and after scenarios related to the first movie.
Vishwaroop 2 presents the continuation of the story of Indian spy Wisam (Kamal Hassan), who is a die-hard patriot and has dedicated his life to fight terrorism. In this film also, Wisam is on the hunt for dreaded Al Qaeda terrorist Omar (Rahul Bose). Angered by their defeat at the hands of Wisam, Omar and other terrorists are desperate to get revenge. They plan to carry out huge bomb explosions in Delhi and London, and are ready to eliminate anyone who crosses their path. Wisam gets some clues about their nefarious plans and starts on the mission to stop the bombing. Will Wisam succeed or will the terrorists win the battle this time?
Vishwaroop 2 does not follow a linear sequence in the story and keeps presenting before and after events in random manner. This may appeal to some audiences, but it can also make you lose focus on the main story. However, the spy and thriller elements are seamlessly orchestrated to match the standards that we see in Hollywood movies. There’s plenty of action and other elements too such as drama, romance and comedy.
Vishwaroop 2 can be a good option if you like spy and action movies. Beyond that, there aren’t many glorious moments worth watching.
