Rahul Gandhi to visit Hyderabad for 2 days

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will spend two hectic days in Hyderabad next week to give a big push to the party’s campaign to resurrect itself in Telangana and gear up for the fast approaching elections.

His programme will include interactions with various segments of the society including students, youth women, minorities and party workers.

However there was a question mark on his visit to Osmania University Campus where he was scheduled to address the students as the authorities have not granted the permission for the programme so far. Telangana state Congress committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy briefing the media on Friday alleged that the State Government was deliberately creating obstacles in Rahul Gandhi’s program as it was afraid of the Congress president.

He alleged that the Government was putting pressure on the Osmania University administration not to permit Rahul Gandhi’s meeting though the party had applied for the permission and also paid the charge for the use of an auditorium, he said. “so far we have neither received a confirmation nor rejection from the university authorities”, he said. “The Congress president was invited by the Osmania University students and if permission was granted he will definitely go there”.

Sharing the details of Rahul’s programme Reddy said that the Congress president will interact with women and also address a meeting in Serlingampallya area of the city, which is dominated by the people of Andhra and Rayalaseema region. Party sources said that this was aimed at reassuring the Andhra community that on coming to power Congress will take care of their interest. On the second day Rahul will have a teleconference with more than 30000 booth committee members across the State.
