Directive to inspect shelter homes

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday issued directives to inspect shelter homes in the State every month at a high-level meeting held at the CM House.

He also instructed to form rules for the girls’ hostels run by private operators. In a discussion held with a delegation of Journalists’ Welfare Society, he said that such incidents are distressing. Chouhan told that the NGO Director guilty of allegedly raping a hearing and speech impaired inmate of a private girls hostel has been arrested and will be punished.

Chouhan said that this incident has been taken seriously and the accused has been arrested. A charge-sheet will be presented soon after investigation. The accused will be severely punished. He said that all private, government and grant-aided shelter homes of the state with female inmates will be inspected every month. At present grant-aided homes are being inspected every two months.

Chouhan instructed to inspect orphanages also. He said that the homes will not be left in the care of the directors alone. Regular inspection will be conducted. Several institutions like orphanages are being run with good intentions but even their inspection on a regular basis is necessary.

Rules will be formed for private hostels where girls come to study from other places. Arrangement will be made for regular inspection of these homes. The administration will make full efforts with the coordination of the society that such unfortunate incidents are not repeated. The guilty will be severely punished.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister SK Mishra, Commissioner, Public Relations P Narhari and the office-bearers of various institutions were present at the meeting.
