CHENNAI: The pleasant weather witnessed on Saturday is expected to continue for the next few days as the met department has forecast light or moderate rains till Wednesday.
As the sky remained overcast with intermittent drizzle or rain since morning, the day time temperature hovered around 27C, a dip of 7.3 from the normal for August. According to the forecast, more rain is expected to keep days pleasant and cooler, while nights are expected to be chillier. Minimum temperature dipped to 23C on Saturday. Met department recorded 8.5mm rain in the city while suburbs received 5.6mm.

The forecast for the next 48 hours says the sky condition over the city is likely to be generally cloudy. Rain or thundershower is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29C and 23C.

While showers will be scattered and intermittent in different parts of the city, heavy rain is expected in the southern districts of the state.

The weather chart shows good cloud cover over most of the state and over the Bay of Bengal, which triggered the rain. Met department officials did not specify whether the rain is due to the impact of the incessant rainfall in Kerala due to southwest monsoon.
