‘TJS will give ₹ 2,500 monthly unemployment allowance’

The Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) president M. Kodandaram has alleged that the State is being run by “one family for one contractor” with the help of the police.

Mr. Kodandaram levelled serious allegations against the government, stating that public money was misused in the name of projects and key welfare measures were ignored and every voice was suppressed, using the police force.

Interacting with journalists at Meet The Press, organised by the Telangana Journalists Union (TJU) here, Mr. Kodandaram said instead of maintaining law and order, police officers had become ‘agents’ of the government to threaten people from joining other political parties.

He said when lakhs of people fought for Telangana, only one contractor was benefiting. On the Kaleshwaram project, he said the government could have saved ₹40,000 crore but changed the design to make money. He went on to charge that even the national status was not sought seriously as the government would have to follow the guidelines and submit reports regularly to the Central government.

The TJS chief said Aasara pensions were not released for last three months and fee reimbursement dues were pending, jobs were not filled and lands were indiscriminately given to contractors to make money while poor people were waiting for houses.

Mr. Kodandaram said TJS was a serious aspirant in the State politics and they understood Telangana’s needs and had better plans to deliver. It would contest all the seats and would, if voted to power, announce job calendar, fill one lakh jobs in the first year and train unemployed youth, using polytechnics and government machinery.

He announced that the party would extend ₹ 2,500 monthly unemployment allowance to the youth, provide free education and medical facilities while special scheme like ‘pavla vaddi’ for women groups would be revived.
