Ujjain : ‘Seva vibhag’ of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh here organised a sapling plantation programme on Saturday to mark festival of hariyali amavasya.
On this occasion Malwa region head Swapnil Kulkarni addressed the volunteers. “In many parts of India, especially in North India hariyali amavasya is celebrated as a protection day of environment with a religious festival.
It is worshiped in our Vedic sanatan culture by considering nature as God. Nature encourages all of us to nurture.”
Kulkarni added that environment preservation and its augmentation is like a worship of God. Mahanagar sanghchalak Shripad Joshi informed that hundreds of volunteers planted saplings to prevent land erosion along the river banks.
