The inflow and outflow of the Tungabhadra dam has increased following good rainfall in the catchment areas. On Saturday, the inflow was 74,539 cusecs while the outflow was 72,801 cusecs.
The surplus water was being let into the river through 30 out of the total 33 crest gates: 20 gates opened to a height of two-and-a-half feet while ten gates at a height of two feet.
It may be mentioned here that the inflow and outflow, had receded during the first week of this month, saw gradual increase with every passing day. On August 3, the inflow and outflow recorded was 19,208 cusecs and 10,232 cusecs respectively and gradually increased in the following days, especially from August 8 onwards. People from the district and also from neighbouring districts continue to throng the dam to have a spectacular view of milky water gushing out through the crest gates and also to have a glimpse of the illuminated dam.
