Hubballi: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rescued a nine-month-old baby, who was allegedly kidnapped by a woman in Munarabad in Koppal district, at the railway station here on Saturday.
Sources told STOI that acting on definite information about the kidnap of the baby from Munirabad, a team of RPF personnel comprising Ravichandra, Rathod and others, searched the railway station and noticed a woman moving around suspiciously with an infant.

The woman, Kasturi Pakiroppa Kerane, 25, is a resident of Sanivar Santi in Belagavi. “When a woman constable asked Kasturi about the baby, she did not give convincing reply. She also confessed to kidnapping the child from a temple in Munirabad,” sources said, adding that the woman was planning to take the child to Belagavi.

The railway staff at the Munirabad station broke the good news to Lakshmi, the mother of the baby, who lives in Munirabad. After rushing to Hubballi, Lakshmi said that she and her relatives were frantically searching for the baby.

Kasturi has been handed over to railway police for the action, sources added.
