BHOPAL : The special investigation team (SIT) has sent the mobile phone of the accused Ashwani Sharma, who was held for raping a deaf and dumb tribal girl, for forensic test.

The SIT was formed to probe into the much hyped case where a tribal minor girl was raped by the accused in a shelter home.


The accused’s phone was reportedly filled with obscene videos but police did not confirm it.

Bhopal south superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar Lodha held a meeting of Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The team has reportedly made a blueprint of the plan to provide speedy justice to the speech and hearing impaired tribal girl.

The meeting was focused on the technical aspects of the case such as evidence collection and necessary forensic tests which would be conducted in different labs.

According to sources, City Superintendent of Police (Habibganj) Bhupendra Singh is interrogating the accused Ashwani Sharma who was remanded to three days’ police remand by the court on Friday.

Accused was kept at Awadhpuri police station in the evening and shifted to Govindpura police station in late night. Police interrogated him till late in night.

Additional superintendent of police (ASP crime Rashmi Mishra said that the investigation is on and it would be premature to jump on any conclusion.

The other task for the SIT investigating hostel sexual abuse is to enquire if any other girl faced similar torture because in the past 21 girls have stayed in the private hostel run by Ashwini Sharma over a period of three years.
