Sapling plantation drive held for greenery

Indore : A sapling plantation drive was organised behind Omaxe Hills township on Saturday. Men and women from different areas joined the drive.

Environment enthusiasts Archana Shukla, Chanchal Kaur, Harnam Singh, Rajendra Singh Chouhan and Padma Shri Janak Palta McGilligan, Ambrish Kela and Abhay Garg promised to take care of saplings in months to come.  About 251 saplings have been planted.

Talking to Free Press, Janak said, “Monsoon is the best time to plant but these saplings cannot become trees in months. They need water and care for few years to grow.”

Discussing how saplings can be cared for, Rajendra Singh said, “Saplings need nourishment and protection along with water; so we will put neem leaves concentrate and provide nourishment through manure. It is best way to protect saplings from being eaten away by animals.”
