Another labourer from Odisha dies

One more labourer from Odisha on Friday succumbed to his injuries in the stone quarry blast in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district which had occurred on August 3.

The deceased, identified as Pandab Lenka of Biti Nuagaon under the Rambha police limits in Ganjam district, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Visakhapatnam.

Earlier, four Odisha labourers, Bhima Nahak of J Radhagovindpur, Duryodhana Nahak and Manoranjan Nahak of Nuagaon, and Rajendra Nahak of Rambha, all from Ganjam, had died after the mishap. Besides, a labourer from Odisha is still undergoing treatment in Kurnool with his condition being critical.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has earlier announced an ex-gratia of ` 2 lakh each for the family members of the deceased. The State Government would also bear the treatment expenses of the injured ones.
