Three booked for molesting woman in Gurugram’s Kanhai village

Police said they have identified one of the accused, and the three-member gang will be nabbed soon.

A 28-year-old woman was allegedly molested and assaulted by three men near her house in Kanhai village, Sector 45 on Friday evening, police said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.

According to the police, the incident took place near the hutments of Kanhai village on Friday evening when the woman, who works as a domestic help in Sector 45, was returning home after buying groceries from a general store.

The woman, in her complaint, alleged that a group of villagers often passed lewd comments when she passed the stretch and one of them tried to get hold of her, police said.

“The woman said she was on her way back from work when one of the accused tried to force himself on her. She raised an alarm and her husband, who was standing near the lane connecting the general store, rushed to the spot. She said the men assaulted him and even threatened to kill him,” Usha Kundu, assistant commissioner of police(crime against women), said.

Police said they have identified one of the accused and they will be nabbed soon.

A case has been registered under sections 354 (molestation), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code at women police station, Sector 51.
