NOIDA: About 5 lakh residents (one lakh families) are set to benefit from a 1.5-km-long under-construction road that is set to complete by September 30. The road will connect sector 120 to 116 all the way to 7x (74-78) sectors.
Noida Authority has already begun work on the Rs 1.75-crore project, which was earlier stuck due to a land dispute between local farmers. Once operational, the road is expected to not only ease traffic on Sector 72 main road, but also provide alternate access to DSC (Dadri-Surajpur-Chalera) road via sector 76-78.
According to
Samakant Srivastava, general manager (Civil) Noida Authority, the process for connecting newer sectors/areas which are stuck due to lack of road connectivity has begun as per CEO Alok Tandon’s directive. “Many areas in Noida have been facing road connectivity due to some land dispute between local farmers. These are being resolved and roads being built accordingly. The Sector 120 to Sector 116 stretch is one such area where a 1.5 km road is now being built following resolution of land dispute with local farmers. The project, which costs Rs 1.75 crore, will connect Sector 119/120 to Sector 116/115 leading to Sectors 74, 75-78 road. The road is expected to be ready by end of September,” said Srivastava.
SPS Yadav, project engineer work circle 6 maintained that 40 % of the construction is complete. “We are awaiting the end of
monsoon to complete the road which is nearly 40 % ready. If there will be no showers, then the work might end earlier,” said Yadav.
While the said road is expected to ease traffic on Sector 72 main road (which runs parallel to Global Indian School) from Sectors 120-122, it is also expected to provide alternate access to DSC road via Sector 78 and vice versa. Residents living in many high rise apartments in neighbouring Sectors such as 74-78 to Sectors 115, 116 on one side and Sectors 118 to 122 on the other side, stand to gain with this internal connectivity.
