Balangir Bandh hits normal life

Normal life in Balangir town was affected badly for the second consecutive day on Friday as shops and business establishments were closed due to the 12-hour bandh call given by the Bajrang Dal. Both private and Government buses were off the road. School and colleges too were closed.

Antaryami Karan of Bajrang Dal said the bandh was to mount pressure for construction of a bypass road in Balangir. He warned of intensifying the stir if the demand was not fulfilled.

“It is sheer apathy of the Government not to start the project which is a crying need of the hour. We demand early commencement of the work,” said Gopalji Panigrahi of Balangir Action Committee which has been pressing for the bypass road since 2015.
