Fake health certificates issued to Haj pilgrims

Indore : A case of fake health certificates issued to Haj pilgrims by Hukumchand Polyclinic came to fore on Saturday.

Hospital in charge Dr Ashutosh Sharma was shocked after receiving photographs of certificates, which appeared similar to certificates, which the hospital issued to Haj pilgrims. Shocked, he immediately lodged a complaint with the chief medical and health officer, civil surgeon and police on Saturday evening.

“I was surprised after seeing the photographs of health certificates that had hospital seal and my signature. But I didn’t issue the certificates. I don’t know who has issued these fake certificates,” Dr Sharma said.

Hospital in charge complains to police, others

According to hospital insiders, the fake certificates were issued by a private Haj tour operator to extort money from customers.

“We give health certificates to people who go on Haj after administering polio drops, vaccine for meningitis and after conducting general health check-up. People using fake certificates may get into trouble as their tour can be cancelled or they would be sent back from Haj if caught there,” Dr Sharma said.
