Cloudy skies and light rain forecast until tomorrow

Coimbatore: Denizens can look forward to cloudy skies and some light rainfall in the next two days, with the low pressure formation over the Bay of Bengal slowly beginning to move towards Andhra Pradesh. However, hilly areas in and around Pollachi might see heavy rainfall, because of its proximity to Kerala.
The city can expect light drizzles and mild rainfall through the day on Sunday and Monday, said S Paneerselvam, director of the Agro Climate Research Centre at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). “We can expect around 20mm rainfall spread over three days, starting Saturday. But it will only be light rainfall in the city and immediate suburbs. Only Valparai may see heavy rainfall.”

The city has been witnessing cloudy skies and light rainfall since Tuesday evening. “The rain is a result of a low pressure formation over the Bay of Bengal. Many parts of the state have been receiving showers,” said a meteorological department official. “However, the formation is slowly moving towards Andhra Pradesh. The rain will be light and scattered, but will continue till Monday.”

Weather experts say the temperatures are unlikely to change. Maximum temperatures are between 29C and 32C and minimum temperatures range between 22C and 24C. “The temperatures are likely to remain pleasant, but the light rain may cause humidity. Humidity of around 82% was recorded on Saturday morning,” Paneerselvam said.
