Ahead of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018, scheduled to begin here in November, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has planned to spruce up major city parks and streets of the capital city with sleek and durable steel furniture and signage.

For this purpose, the BDA on Friday floated tender inviting agencies for supply, installation and maintenance of furniture and signage at different parks and roadsides.

The furniture include 10-seater and 4-seater stainless steel benches, twin hanging stainless steel dustbins, automatic and semi-automatic e-toilets with bio digester and various types of street and park signage such as area infographic, location indicator, directional and information signage.

The selected agency would have the responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of the furniture for four years.

The parks wherein furniture and signage would be installed include Indira Gandhi Park, Biju Patnaik Park, Madhusudan Das Park, Mahatma Gandhi Park, Buddha Jayanti Park, Kharavela Park, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park and various colony parks in the BDA area. Similarly, sinage would be put up at roadsides along Janpath, Rajmahal Square to AG square, Sachivalay Marg, Airport Square to KIIT Square, Airport Square to Sishu Bhavan Square, Udyan Marg, Raj Bhawan Square to Siripur Square, Acharya Vihar Square to Barmunda bus stand.

Notably, the BDA had recently floated another tender to undertake extensive landscaping and plantation activities along 40 km major roads and junctions ahead of the Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018.

In a related development, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has initiated efforts to have state-of-the art bus queue shelters (bus stops) as part of the Bhubaneswar City Bus Modernisation Project (BCBMP) before the Hockey World Cup.

The JSL Lifestyle Limited has won the bid to put the ultra modern facility made of stainless steel across the city with a cost more than Rs 20 crore in three months.
