RU to start Hotel Mgmt Course, PGDGC

The Ranchi University (RU) will soon start four-year course in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from this academic year 2018-19. The decision was taken during the Academic Council meeting conducted on Friday in the presence of college principals, Head of the Departments (HODs) of various constituent and affiliated colleges.

“Earlier, the university used to conduct three-year Hotel Management Course. After getting consent from the academic council, the course duration has been extended for another one year. A letter regarding the same has been given to the Raj Bhawan. Syllabus is being designed on the basis of industrial requirements under experts supervision,” said RU Officer (PR), Dr. Prakash Kumar Jha. 

In addition, the university will start Post-Graduation Diploma in Guidance and Counseling (PGDGC) from this academic year.

Further, the State biggest university will sign MoU with Institute for Human Development, New Delhi to promote the study of social, economic and political system of the country.

“The MoU is expected to get signed in December 2018. The University will soon decide that which department will be tagged with the Institute of Human Development, New Delhi for socio-economic studies,” the PRO stated.

Besides giving consent over starting new courses (Degree, Diploma) a few major agendas were also considered during the meeting chaired by RU VC – Dr Ramesh Kumar Pandey.

Jha stated that the decision of increasing seats in B.Sc (CA), B.Sc. (IT), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Mass Communication and Video Production (MCVP) on the request of Gossner College Principal was also approved during the meeting.

“Nearly 25 seats will be increased in Computer Application, Information Technology, BBA and MCVP,” he added.
