A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches for hours on Saturday at the Muzaffarpur shelter home, where 34 girls were allegedly raped.
The CBI team also interrogated Rahul Anand, son of the main accused, Brajesh Thakur, whose NGO Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti ran the home. Officials of Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) accompanied the CBI team.
The CBI team, headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Abhay Kumar, conducted the search in presence of the magistrate Sheela Rani Gupta.
The office of a local Hindi newspaper Pratah Kamal started by Brajesh Thakur’s father in 1982, located on the ground floor of the shelter home, too was searched. Rahul Anand is the editor of the newspaper.
The CBI officials were seen taking out a pile of files from the shelter home and making their digital record. A large number of policemen were present inside the premises, entry to which was blocked for everyone, including journalists.
The CFSL team collected scientific evidence. All activities carried out by the CBI team were video graphed.
Before reaching the shelter home, the CBI team had taken files from the State Social Welfare Department and quizzed officials in Patna. T
