Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra will be seen in Jabariya Jodi.

Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra have started shooting for their upcoming film Jabariya Jodi and a photograph of the film’s clapboard was shared on the official Twitter page of Balaji Motion Pictures on Friday. The picture was captioned: “Filming begins for Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Jabariya Jodi. Shoot begins.”

Sanjeev K Jha, the producer of the film spoke about the film and its premise and said in a statement, “We always knew such forced marriages happen, but we didn’t know the magnitude of it. I was surprised to see the official data that said that more kidnappings happened in Bihar for the purpose of forced marriage than ransom. It was an eye-opener. It’s hard to believe that such bizarre practices happen in our vicinity even now.”

Directed by Prashant Singh, Jabariya Jodi is co-presented by Balaji Telefilms and Karma Media Entertainment. Sidharth and Parineeti had earlier shared screen space in the 2014 film Hasee Toh Phasee. The two actors are also have other projects lined up. Sidharth will be playing the role of late Captain Vikram Batra in a biopic and speaking about it he said that the work on the biopic will begin after he completes Jabariya Jodi. He had said to IANS, “We will start that (working on the biopic) but before that, there is a love story of Balaji (Balaji Motion Pictures) in which I am working with Parineeti Chopra. We will start shooting for that film in the next two days in Lucknow. We will announce the title and other details of the film soon.”

Parineeti, on the other hand, will be seen next in Sandeep Aur Pinky Farar, in which she reunites with Arjun Kapoor on screen after having debuted together in Ishaqzaade.
