A shot was fired in the air in Uttam Nagar’s Hastsal Colony on Thursday night following an argument between two parties over return of ₹10, the police said on Friday. A man has been arrested and a juvenile detained, they said.
DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said six PCR calls were received within half an hour starting from 11.38 p.m. regarding the incident.
During investigation, it was revealed that two persons — Qasim and a juvenile — had gone to Leela Ram’s general store to buy cigarette and snacks.
“There was a heated argument over return of ₹10 took between them, following which both parties were joined by their supporters,” Mr. Alphonse said, adding that supporters of Qasim and the juvenile fired in the air.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed nearby. Qasim’s friend Aamir and the juvenile are seen firing at the store’s shutter. “When the spot was inspected, a hole in the shutter was found,” Mr. Alphonse said.
Based on a complaint by Leela Ram, a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Arms Act was registered. Search for five persons, including Aamir, is on.
