Govt to organise ‘Agriculture Summit’

The State Government, in order to provide much needed fillip to laggard farm sector in Jharkhand, will be organising the ‘Agriculture Summit’ in November this year. The effort would be possibly the first of its kind in the country.

Informing about this Development Commissioner DK Tiwari said that experts of the field from all over the country would participate into the Summit.

“The Government is going to organise Agriculture Summit where farmers of the State can take lessons from experts and fellow farmers from all over the country. Banks have a major role to play into that including the SHGs since financial empowerment of the farmers is the utmost priority of all of us here,” said DK Tiwari addressing the 64th State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meeting on Friday. 

He also told the bankers for providing loans to the SHGs and farm sector while lauding their roles in implementing gram swaraj abhiyans and issuing Kisan Credit Cards. At the same time the Development Commissioner cautioned the banks against growing NPAs. Joint Secretary with the Finance Ministry Madanesh Mishra was also present there who praised the bankers of the State for meeting the targets given.

Rural Development Secretary Avinash Kumar talked about promotion of Sakhi Mandals and suggested the banking sector to dispose of the applications pending for loans and other facilities along with working to improve banking facilities for rural populace.

Urban Development Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh talked about early disposal of applications coming under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

RBI General Manager Sanjeev Dayal, GM of BOI Shankar Prasad and senior officials of various Departments and banks functional in the State were present on the occasion.
