13 Deoria home inmates moved to Varanasi

VARANASI: Thirteen of the 23 inmates rescued from the blacklisted Ma Vindhyavasini shelter home in Deoria, UP were shifted to Varanasi on Friday. District probation officer Pravin Kumar Tripathi told TOI on Saturday that the inmates, including two minors, reached Varanasi on Friday night, and they were accommodated in an aftercare home where 94 inmates are already lodged.

The home has eight dormitories, each housing eight-10 inmates, he said. The SIT team led by ADG (crime) Sanjay Singhal recorded the statements of police officers, probation department, child welfare committee and district administration on Saturday.

The SIT team also visited the sealed Ma Vindhyavasini shelter homeand recorded statements of the neighbours.
