‘Tribals, their culture neglected in State’

Adivasis and their culture and traditions have been neglected during the last 19 years of the BJD Government, alleged BJP Janajati Morcha president and MLA Rabi Naik on the occasion of International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (Biswa Adivashi Divas) held at the party office here on Thursday.

He severely criticized the State Government for incidences like children’s deaths due to malnutrition in Nagada in Jajpur district, carrying of woman’s body on shoulder by her husband Dana Majhi and firing incident at Kalinganagar that killed many tribals. “The State Government has been siphoning funds and hoodwinking tribal people,” he alleged.

To create awareness among people about the importance of upholding of tribal culture, dress, tradition and musical instruments, the BJP Janajati Morcha organised a huge rally from the party head office to the PMG Square.   

Among others, Dr Priyabrata Majhi, Bhubaneswar district president Harekrushna Khuntia, Bijay Nayak, Keshar Murmu, Malati Hembram, Gangadhar Hembram, Gelhu Mahant, Samrai Tudu and Nilamadhan Sabar were present.
