Stock market update: Auto stocks mixed, but Eicher Motors, M&M keep sectoral index in the green

NEW DELHI: Auto stocks were trading mixed in morning session of Friday's trade.

However, gains in Eicher Motors (up 3.23 per cent), Bosch (up 1.74 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) (up 0.88 per cent), Exide Industries (up 0.56 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (up 0.52 per cent) were keeping the sectoral index in the green.

The Nifty Auto was trading 0.23 per cent up at 10,838 around 10:35 am.

However, MRF (down 1.65 per cent), Apollo Tyres (down 1.14 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (down 1.13 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 0.98 per cent), Tata Motors (down 0.78 per cent), Tata Motors (DVR) (down 0.66 per cent) and Bharat Forge (down 0.27 per cent) were incurring losses.

Shares of Amara Raja Batteries (down 0.09 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 0.08 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 0.06 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India (down 0.05 per cent) were trading on a choppy note.

Domestic equity market was reflecting bearish sentiment as escalating trade war tensions between the US and China spooked investors across the globe, including India.

Heavyweights, including State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and HDFC twins were the major drag on Sensex.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 21 points at 11,450, while the BSE Sensex was 80 points down at 37,945.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.

Eicher Motors, YES Bank, UPL, Bharti Airtel and Asian Paints were leading among Nifty scrips, while State Bank of India, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Grasim Industries, Coal India and ICICI Bank were among the top losers in the Nifty index.
