Polytechnic student goes missing

A girl student of Government Women's Polytechnic at Gamharia in Seraikela-Kharsawan district seems to have jumped into river Kharkai from the Adityapur toll bridge under Adityapur police station area on Thursday morning, police said. The girl was identified as Mirza Sadaf Baig.

The 18-year-old girl is a resident of Baganshahi in Mango attended her class today but she was missing from the institute as well as at home from about 9 am.

According to information Sadaf's college bag was found on the toll bridge.  The local people saw the bag in the middle of the bridge and immediately informed the Adityapur police.  The police reached the spot and on inquiring they found an I-card in which the girl's name was mentioned.

Sadaf is a second year student of Government Women's Polytechnic in the mechanical stream.

She used to attend her classes by travelling to Gamharia from her house to the institute every day.

Sub-inspector Chandra Bhushan said a police team had visited to the government polytechnic and inquired about the girl, but she was not at the institute.

"We are investigating the incident. She might have jumped into the river.

After we failed to locate her in the institute, we took the residential address of the girl and also her father's cell number.  Subsequently we informed the girl's father, Mirza Abdul Baig," said Bhushan.

Bhushan said after Abdul Baig turned up at the police station, they took him to the polytechnic institute once again for verification from the institute's authority.
