Will not let down tribals, says Shivraj

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the State Level Programme held at Dhar on Thursday said that he will not let tribals’ honour decline at any cost.

Statues of Tribal Heroes will be installed and Adivasi Diwas will be observed in the State every year. Twenty four percent amount of the budget will be spent on the development of tribal community and tribal areas will be linked with all weather roads, he added.

Chouhan further mentioned that Heroes of the Tribal Community like Birsa Munda, Tantya Bheel, Bhima Nayak, Khajya Nayak, Rana Pooja Bheel, Shankar Shah and Rani Durgavati have played an important role in the freedom of the country. He mentioned that they fought bravely with British for the freedom of India, we are free today because of their sacrifices and he salutes these great personalities.

Chouhan has informed that land deeds have been given to 2.24 lakh persons of the tribal community of the state under the Forest Rights Act. Every possible effort is being made in the state to provide opportunities to tribal students in IIT, Engineering, PMT and PAT. Fee towards higher education of poor students belonging to the scheduled tribe category will also be borne by the state government, their parents need not worry about it. Chouhan assured for upgradation of 136 special tribal residential schools of the state on the lines of Novoday Vidhyalaya.

Besides, Chouhan said that irrigation facility is being provided on 2 lakh hectare area in the tribal areas. He urged the tribal community to increase the agriculture production by adopting advance techniques, make efforts to make agriculture a profitable occupation, the state government will provide all possible assistance in this matter. He also gave assurance for ensuring clean potable water in villages with 500 population in the tribal areas. Chouhan announced `25,000 in the form of Samman Nidhi to each team of tribal artists, which participated in the programme.
