BENGALURU: BMRCL will start Jayadeva flyover demolition work after the road-widening project is completed and heavy vehicles, including BMTC buses, are diverted to alternative roads. The demolition work is expected to begin in three months.

BMRCL gave this assurance to members of the joint action committee (comprising 10 RWAs) in BTM Layout on Thursday. The meeting led by MLAs Ramalinga Reddy (BTM Layout) and Soumya Reddy (Jayanagar) was convened with government agencies to discuss issues related to the proposed elevated road-cum-rail flyover from Silk Board junction to Ragigudda, part of the RV Road to Bommasandra (Reach-5) Metro line.

“Traffic police have approved road-diversion plans, and initial work has started at Jayadeva flyover. BBMP will shift the dry waste-segregation unit located below the flyover,” BMRCL officials said.

Responding to tree-felling complaints for Metro work, BMRCL claimed they have saved over 300 trees along the stretch between RV Road station and Central Silk Board by translocating them.
