Weather Update: Frosty conditions across the central interior

Extremely cold conditions are expected across the central interior on Saturday morning.

Warnings

High seas with wave heights in excess of 6 metres are expected between East London and Richards Bay, moderating late on Saturday morning.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures are expected to be cool to cold across most of the country, while the central interior is expected to be extremely cold.

Mild temperatures can be expected along the East Coast and the northern border.

The coldest place is expected to be Kimberley in the Northern Cape, dropping to a below-freezing -5°C.

Maximum temperatures are predicted to remain cool to cold across most of the country. The West Coast is expected to be warm, as well as the northern parts of the North West, the northern border, and the northeastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The warmest place is expected to be Musina in Limpopo, reaching a high of 26°C.

Pretoria is expected to reach a high of 20°C, while Johannesburg is expected to reach a maximum of 17°C. Bloemfontein is expected to reach a high of 15°C.

Along the coast, Cape Town is expected to reach a high of 18°C. Port Elizabeth and Durban are both expected to experience a maximum of 19°C.
