The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Thursday wrote to the Women and Child Development, and Social Welfare Department of the Delhi government seeking details of shelter homes in the Capital. The authorities have been asked to provide the details by August 16.
Following the Muzaffarpur incident, the DCW constituted an expert committee to conduct social audits at shelter homes.
In its letter, the women’s commission also sought details pertaining to the grants released by the government for each shelter home since January 2012.
“Please provide details of the number of inspections undertaken by the government for each shelter home for women and girls since 2012, and details of complaints received against the shelter homes since 2012,” read the DCW’s letter.
The Department has also been asked to provide details of the sanctioned number of staff and the current strength present at each shelter home.
