Belagavi police have ordered the closure of all parks and gardens in the city after 7 p.m., in order to control the drug menace.
“We have reports to suggest that drug abuse increases in public parks after evening. We have also found some miscreants trying to sell narcotic substances to youth in parks. We want to prevent that,” Commissioner of Police D.C. Rajappa told presspersons in Belagavi on Thursday.
The order comes to force immediately.
Workshop
“We are in constant touch with senior police officers in Maharashtra and Goa. Our officers are going around schools and colleges creating awareness against drug abuse. A workshop will be held to create awareness about fitness among police personnel on Friday and Saturday,” he said.
Marathon on Sunday
A marathon against drug abuse will be held in Belagavi on Sunday.
It will start from CPEd Grounds and will have two events in the 5 km and 10 km categories.
