Coimbatore: A 34-year-old Malaysian woman had gone missing from a hotel at Mettupalayam, where they had taken a room on Wednesday night, on Thursday morning. Though her husband had lodged a police complaint, police are yet to trace her.
The missing woman was identified as Bhuvana. She, along with her husband Sivanesan, had come to India last Thursday. After visiting a few tourist places, they reached Coimbatore on Wednesday. They were staying in a hotel at Karamadai near Mettupalayam. On Thursday, Bhuvana was found missing from the hotel.

Police said Sivanesan, 34, of Taman Desa Jaya at Kepong in Malaysia, was a cook and his wife Bhuvana was working in a courier service company. The couple got married 10 years ago and they have two daughters - Pragathi, 9 and Janani, 6.

The couple had come to Tamil Nadu from Malaysia on August 2 for holidaying. “They first stayed in Chennai and visited many temples,” an investigation official said, adding, “They were planning to visit Udhagamandalam in the Nilgiris district and they reached Mettupalayam on Wednesday night. The couple took a room in a hotel near Mettupalayam.”

On Thursday morning, Sivanesan woke up and found his wife was missing from the room. Immediately, he searched for her at the hotel and surrounding areas, but in vain. “She has taken her original passport, handbag and mobile phone along with her. Her husband tried to reach her, but her mobile phone which was switched off,” the investigation officer said.

On Thursday evening, Sivanesan lodged a complaint with the Mettupalayam police, who registered a woman missing case. Further investigations are on.
