Mumbai Crime: Businessman, wife held for kidnapping, rape of two minor girls


The DN Nagar police have arrested a Juhu-based businessman and his wife for kidnapping and rape of two minor girls aged 14 and 16. The two accused had hired those two girls as domestic help. The girls were hired as domestic help to work in a flat that the businessman owns in Mira Road.

According to Hindustan Times, the 16-year-old’s mother has also been arrested on suspicion of ‘supplying’ the girls to the couple. The incident came to light when the family of 14-year-old filed a missing person complaint was filed on July 24 at DN Nagar police station, after she failed to return home. The 14-year-old had gone with the 16-year-old.

During the investigation, the police found that couple held the 14-year-old captive between July 21 and July 24. Since the 16-year-old was a friend of the 14-year-old girl, she told the accused duo that she found out that the other girl’s family had gone to the police. After this, the couple left the 14-year-old and warned her of consequences if she spoke to anyone about her time with them. Later, the 14-year-old girl was found in Andheri as she didn’t go home after her release. Then, she was sent for a medical examination, from which the cops found out that she was sexually assaulted.


The 14-year-old girl later told cops about the incident, she told that her 16-year-old friend had taken her to Mira Road by telling her that she needed help with the domestic work. And when they reached the Mira Road apartment, the businessman and wife were waiting for them. After this, the couple allegedly raped her. The police believe that the 16-year-old had also been sexually assaulted by the couple. The police also suspect that the 16-year-old girl’s mother had taken money from the couple in exchange for her daughter.

The businessman, during interrogation, has admitted to oral sex with the 14-year-old. The police have charged the businessman under section 376 (rape), 354 (molestation), 363(kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the POCSO Act. Businessman’s wife and the 16-year-old’s mother have been charged with abetment (section 114).
