Eight persons involved in a robbery at the house of a property dealer in Dwarka’s Dabri have been arrested, the police said on Thursday. They have recovered ₹52 lakh cash and jewellery worth ₹5 lakh from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Ashish Chaudhary, Dipanshu Singh, Rahul Chauhan, Karan, Abhishek Sharma, Manoj Gupta, Ajay and Radhey Shyam.

A PCR call was received on Wednesday regarding a robbery at a house in Vijay Enclave in Dabri, in which the entire family, including women and children were held hostage and a man was stabbed.

“A police team rushed to the spot. Pradeep Gupta, who had sustained injuries, was taken to a hospital by his family by then. A case was registered at Dabri police station,” said DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse.

In her statement, Mr. Pradeep’s wife Kavita stated that at around 4.30 a.m., her mother-in-law knocked on the door of their bedroom. As she opened the door, four persons forcibly entered the room and overpowered her. One of them, who had a pistol, overpowered her husband and another caught hold of their two children. When Mr. Pradeep tried to resist, he was stabbed. They robbed the family of over ₹80 lakh cash and jewellery. They also took away DVR of CCTV cameras with them.

“The police examined CCTV footage of the locality and found a suspect roaming in the area at around 3 a.m. Local informers were alerted and the suspect, identified as cab driver Ashish, was held,” Mr. Alphonse said.

Ashish revealed he was under a debt of ₹3 lakh. He knew Mr. Pradeep and planned the robbery. “Ashish roped in 12 people to execute the plan. Four robbers are absconding with the remaining amount,” said Mr. Alphonse.
