Two Romanians arrested in Madhya Pradesh for ATM fraud

Two Romanian nationals were arrested here in in connection with an alleged in various cities of the country, police said today.

The duo, (30) and Cornel Constantine (27), was arrested yesterday, said of Police (Crime Branch) Amrendra Singh.

"They were arrested on the basis of inputs provided by the Kolkata Police," he said.

The two were handed over to a team which has taken them to West Bengal, Singh said.

Cases related to the were reported from various cities, including Kolkata, where an FIR has been lodged.

Another said the Romanians were allegedly members of a gang involved in stealing data from cards of customers by using secret cameras and skimmers (a device used by fraudsters to steal credit/debit card information) at cash dispensing machines.

Using the stolen data, the gang members would prepare clones of cards and used them to fraudulently withdraw money from of customers, he said.

The gang members used to visit on tourist visas and stay in costly hotels, he added.
