The government recently asked states to accept driving license, registration certificate or other documents in ‘electronic form’ presented through DigiLocker or mParivahan platforms. According to reports, impounding of documents will be reflected electronically through ‘eChallan’ system.

Furthermore, the data related to the insurance of new vehicles and renewal of insurance of vehicles is also being uploaded by the Insurance Information Board (IIB) on the VAHAN database and will be reflected on the app of the ministry.
While DigiLocker is available on all phones, mParivahan is only available on Android phones as of now and will be available to Apple iOS platform in the next 7-10 days.
