Cases stalling inauguration of Jalpaiguri circuit bench

Chief Minister today said the government is eager to inaugurate of the much-awaited circuit bench of but institution of cases have stalled the event.

Cases have been instituted in questioning the inauguration of the circuit bench in a temporary structure.

"We are willing to inagurate the bench. But somebody has instituted cases against it at the The court has to decide it. It's now sub judice," Banerjee told reporters here.

A petition was moved before the high court on July 26 questioning the propriety of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's recent announcement that the circuit bench at will be inaugurated on August 17.

Banerjee and a former of Calcutta High Court Justice J N Patel had laid the foundation stone for the circuit bench in September 2012. The circuit bench is to come up on 40 acres given by the for the purpose.

The circuit bench is a long standing demand of north Bengal residents.
