ALLAHABAD: Iswar Saran Post Degree College, the constituent college of Allahabad University, has been given a grant by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to establish a Faculty Development Centre (
FDC). The centre will organise various training programmes for the teachers from higher education.
For the establishment of the centre a grant of 4.25 crore for infrastructure and 1.10 crore (annually) for running of academic activities has been approved.
Principal of the college,
Anand Shankar Singh said that the center would organise several programmes which include refresher course, orientation programme, entrepreneurship programme, short term training programme, educational leadership programme, etc”. The grant to the college has been given under Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers Teaching Scheme (PMMMNMTT).
ISDC has been selected by the MHRD among 20 others of the country after the presentation by around 43 institutions of the country.
“For the implementation of this scheme, a degree college was included for the first time by the 11th project approval board and only Iswar Saran PG College and Hansraj College of Delhi University finally got the final approval for setting up the facility”, said Singh.
Singh said that the college was directed by the MHRD to give the presentation of the detailed working plan of the project on July 17. Out of 43 prestigious educational institutions which were selected for presentation, only 20 were finally selected for the establishment of FDC.
He further said that this centre will also collaborate with various national and international organization to facilitate faculty development programme and research studies. The teachers would get the same API score through FDC of this college as that offered by UGC to Universities.
