Illegal encroachment from gated colonies will also be removed

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has informed that in pursuance of orders of honorable court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes, roads and other places and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.

Under the anti-encroachment drive on Friday, 60 illegal encroachments were identified. Till date, a total of 3321 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 6814 illegal encroachments have been identified and 108 buildings have been sealed.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash instructed the Power, PWD,MDDA, Irrigation and other concerned departments to give the estimates of work of rebuilding and beautification of roads after the anti-encroachment drive in on go mentioning about the details of various works clearly. He said that after the sanctioning of the estimates, the work on rebuilding and beautification of roads will be undertaken in a time bound manner. Om Prakash said that the work to demolish illegal encroachments has been going on. He said that after the removal of illegal encroachments the city would get relief from frequent traffic jams. The benefit of removal of illegal encroachments from roads, footpaths and drains will be felt by the citizens. He said that the administration is getting full support of the people in the anti-encroachment drive.

Om Prakash said that illegal encroachment from gated colonies will also be removed as per the court directions. He said that residents of gates colonies can approach High Court / Supreme Court if they wish to be heard.  He said that Sunday Market will not be allowed under any circumstances so that there is less traffic pressure nearby and the work of removing illegal encroachments could be carried out smoothly.  He said that if anyone put up his rehri or stall at Sunday market, they he would be arrested and action initiated against such persons.
