A (CBI) special court here on Friday sentenced IPS to three years in jail in a 2012 bribery case.

Deshraj was convicted by the court on Wednesday.

The 2008-batch (IPS) was posted as of Police in in 2012 when he demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a in connection with an inquiry against the latter.

The informed the CBI, which laid a trap and caught Deshraj while accepting the bribe from Anokh Singh, who was (SHO) of the Sector 26 police station.

Deshraj had demanded the money to give a favourable report on the inspector, who was facing inquiry for dereliction of duty and insubordination.

Deshraj was arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
