Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna has defended the relocation of offices, related to roadworks, many of them from North Karnataka districts to Hassan.

He said that the relocations were necessary because work in these divisions were completed and it had to be shifted to places where there was work.

The division of KSHIP in Belagavi was shifted because the work it was set up to handle was completed six months ago itself, he said in a press conference here on Friday.

The World Bank officers had written to the State government to shift the division wherever necessary, he said. Similarly, the division located at Sakleshpur had been shifted to Belur as the Shiradi Ghat work had been completed.

He maintained that he had not neglected the work concerned with North Karnataka.

“After I took over the department, the hurdles related to roadworks worth over ₹24,000 crore in North Karnataka have been cleared. Jagadish Shettar was the Chief Minister of the State, but he hardly gave attention to the road in Hubballi,” he said.
