Wanted to find my own Lisbeth Salander, says Fede Alvarez

has said he wanted a new face to play Salander, the famed Swedish hacker, for his take on novel series.

Alvarez's "The Girl in the Spider's Web" features "The Crown" star taking on the role of She succeeds who had portrayed the character in David Fincher's 2011 "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 40-year-old said that he insisted on new faces for his as he "didn't like the idea of taking someone else's cast".

"There was a lot of debate but not with me mostly debate among the studio, if they (were) taking that route or not," Alvarez said.

"Eventually, I think it was me coming in, saying, I preferred to have my own cast. As a director, I just didn't like the idea of taking someone else's cast. As much as I admired Fincher as a filmmaker I think is Fincher's Lisbeth, right? And I wanted to find my own," he added.
