Nagpur: Kuldeep Pandey, alias
Pinnu, externed from city and district in the last week of July, trespassed into the city to personally file an
affidavit before the sessions
court, violating the order of the externment authority, on August 3. Pinnu’s affidavit claims that Mohd Irfan Sami Siddiqui was not the Irfan Bandookiya named by him in his complaint, for having fired upon him on June 26 this year.
Recently, a video of Pinnu getting berated by a young woman at Pension Nagar, for ogling at her younger cousin had gone viral. The cops had faced embarrassing questions since the
goon was supposed to be at Chandrapur after being externed. Sources had said the video was shot when Pinnu had sneaked back into the city, though
police claimed the video was shot before he was externed.
However, the latest evidence of Pinnu’s presence in the city in violation of the externment order is an affidavit filed by him before an ad hoc sessions court. Pinnu had initially named ‘Irfan’ in his FIR for being part of the gang of Sumeet Thakur that had shot at him thrice. A source at Gittikhadan police station said Pinnu, while recording an additional statement on a later date, had underlined the fact that Irfan Bandookiya alias Mohd Irfan Sami Siddiqui was the person he meant in the FIR.
Now, senior PI of Gittikhadan police station Vinod Choudhari said Pinnu seems to be trying to mislead the prosecution by manipulating the name and nickname of the person, which is a common practice among criminals. “Pinnu’s affidavit claims Irfan Bandookiya and Mohd Irfan Sami Siddiqui are not the same person,” he said. Choudhari did not rule out the involvement of monetary consideration or any other conspiracy behind Pinnu’s affidavit.
Zonal DCP Chinmay Pandit said no permission was given to Pinnu by the externment authority (the DCP) to enter the city to appear before the court or file an affidavit for any reason. “We are keeping a vigil on Pinnu’s residence and his whereabouts,” he said.
Sources said Pinnu has also written a letter to the police department, claiming that gangster Ippa alias Irfan Khan’s brother Naushad too was not part of the conspiracy to shoot him. Naushad is also wanted in the case along with Irfan and others. The arrest of Naushad is also pending in a separate case registered under MCOCA at Pachpaoli police station.
Pinnu’s trick, however, seems to have failed so far, as the anticipatory bail plea of Mohd Irfan Sami Siddiqui was withdrawn after arguments before a single bench of Bombay high court. Pinnu’s affidavit had been attached to the bail plea as supportive evidence.
Police sources said there are several offences against Irfan across Vidarbha, including four at Gadchiroli, and at Mankapur and Saoner police stations. Sources from intelligence network said Irfan’s nickname is ‘Bandookiya’ as he had turned into a major gunrunner, with links in Maoist-affected Gadchiroli.
