PeeCee left Salman khan’s Bharat for her rumoured marriage to Nick Jonas and a Hollywood film.

Making films is a risky business, with huge amounts of money being invested in the actors, the sets, production, among other things. The actors are paid whopping amounts of money to feature in them, since the project is sold on their names. However, sometimes, things don’t turn out well, and stars choose to opt out of films.

The latest example is that of Priyanka Chopra leaving Salman Khan’s Bharat. Check out more such instances where stars left plum projects:

PRIYANKA CHOPRA — BHARAT

Bharat, co-starring Salman Khan, would’ve marked Priyanka Chopra’s return to Bollywood. Since her last Hindi film, Jai Gangaajal in 2016, PeeCee had shifted focus to her projects overseas, so her casting in Bharat made a lot of noise. However, she quit. Amid speculation that she’s set to wed beau, singer Nick Jonas in a few months, Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar confirmed her last-minute exit. “We’re thankful we had some time in hand. Katrina is our best choice,” he says. Now, Priyanka has signed a Hollywood film alongside Chris Pratt. However, latest reports say that the project has been put on the backburner.

ABHISHEK BACHCHAN — PALTAN

Abhishek Bachchan had signed his mentor JP Dutta’s upcoming Paltan, but later walked out of it. “Abhi realised that Sonu Sood had more screen space,” Bollywood Life quoted a source as saying. “Dutta told him that Abhishek had a better character, but the actor wasn’t convinced.” In a statement, Dutta’s daughter, Nidhi, the producer of the film said, “It has come as a shock to us as this happened less than 24 hours before our unit left to shoot in Ladakh.” Harshvardhan Rane was eventually roped in. At the trailer launch of the film recently, Dutta was asked about Bachchan’s exit, and he said, “Please talk to the Bachchans as I don’t know what exactly happened and what went wrong.”

SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT — ROMEO AKBAR WALTER

Sushant Singh Rajput was to play a spy in Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW). The film’s poster featured him, but later, John Abraham replaced him. What caused Sushant’s exit? Director Ajay Kapoor told DNA, “Nothing went wrong except that the dates Sushant had given us were clashing with another film, so we decided to part ways amicably. Obviously one feels bad as we had finished most of the prep and were ready to roll. But everything is sorted now, Sushant is like a brother.” Sushant, however, attributed the reason to “prior commitments”.

AKSHAY KUMAR- MOGUL

Akshay Kumar had announced the film on social media in 2017, and was excited to step into the shoes of music mogul Gulshan Kumar for it. But reports of his exit emerged later, and Akshay confirmed the news to media. “I’m not a part of it. Script pe humari thodi baat.. (We did not agree on the script),” he stated as the reason. Now, Ranbir Kapoor’s name is being speculated for the role.

SANJAY DUTT — TOTAL DHAMAAL

There was strong buzz that Sanjay Dutt will reprise his role in the third instalment of the comedy film, Dhamaal. But later a source revealed, “Sanjay wasn’t keen on the film’s content revolving around adult comedy.” He is trying to make up for the lost time with his kids, Shahraan, Iqra and Trishala (He was serving his jail-term). “Sanjay doesn’t want them to see him in such a film.” Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn have joined the cast of Total Dhamaal.
