Stock market update: Private bank stocks up; YES Bank, Kotak Bank climb nearly 1%

NEW DELHI: Private bank stocks were trading with gains in morning session of trade on Wednesday.

The Nifty Private Bank index was trading 0.52 per cent up at 15,811 around 11 am.

Shares of Federal Bank (up 2.12 per cent) and South Indian Bank (up 1.11 per cent) were the top gainers in the private bank index.

YES Bank (up 0.88 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.80 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 0.61 per cent), RBL Bank (up 0.61 per cent) and IDFC Bank (up 0.60 per cent) climbed over half-a-per cent.

ICICI Bank (up 0.42 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 0.40 per cent) and Axis Bank (up 0.10 per cent) were trading with small gains.

Market moved up on gains in Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India and Asian Paints.

The NSE Nifty50 index was up 45 points at 11,435, while the BSE Sensex was up 160 points at 37,826.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.

Tata Steel, ONGC and Bajaj Finance were leading among the Nifty stocks.

Bharti Airtel, HPCL, HCL Technologies and BPCL were among the top losers in the Nifty index.
