In order to start the final procession of the late DMK leader M Karunanidhi, MK Stalin addressed the party cadre at Rajaji hall on Wednesday and requested them to dispose peacefully and to stay calm.
He said that the Tamil Nadu government rejected DMK's request to build a memorial for Dr Karunanidhi at Marina even after he requested the Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami twice to provide the respect that the renowned leader deserves.
He said, “Those who are in power are trying to create chaos, but you have all shown the strength of the cadres. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace. I request the cadre to remain calm, I did not want anything for myself. All I want is a fitting tribute to Kalaignar.”
The final procession is set to start at 4:00 pm from the Rajaji hall. Several national leaders including Prime Minister Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamtha Banerjee, Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal, former UP Chief Minister Akilesh Yadhav paid their last respect to M Karunanidhi.
