Cops take Tito in remand for another day

The Marsaghai police  in Kendrapada district on Tuesday  took gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito on another one-day remand to interrogate him further in connection with two murder cases and illegal sand mining.

Earlier in the day, Tito was produced before the Kendrapada SDJM court, which allowed the Marshaghai police to take him on a fresh remand. The police had taken the gangster on one-day remand on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch (CB) on the day arrested another associate of the gangster, Kamalesh Chain, from Purusottampur village under the Kendrapada Sadar police station. Earlier in the day, he was detained by police for his alleged involvement in land scam.

Source said the Marsaghai police have reopened two murder cases under the supervision of SDPO Rajiv Lochan Panda.

The cops will interrogate Tito in connection with the murder of one Raj Kishore Behera in 2015 and Aswajit Sahu alias Lulu in 2013 respectively. During interrogation by the STF, Tito had earlier confessed to be the mastermind behind the two murders, sources added.
