The Haryana Government has decided to complete the work regarding issuing gas connections to below poverty line (BPL) families in the State by October 2.

For this purpose, special camps would be organised at different places across the State, said Haryana Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Karan Dev Kamboj on Monday while presiding over meeting with all District Food Supplies Controllers (DFSCs) through video conferencing, here.

He directed the officers to prepare timetable with oil companies for this purpose so that gas connections could be provided timely to BPL families. Apart from this, one lakh BPL cards were also being prepared for such families, he said.

The Minister said that the DFSCs should ensure that all depot holders should distribute ration this month latest by August 15.

The depot holders should lift the ration for September positively by August 30 so that the distribution could start from September 1, he said.

Kamboj also directed the DFSCs to personally check the depots to avoid any kind of irregularity. For this, he also asked the monitoring committees constituted at district, block, village and ward level to remain active and to monitor the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The Central Government has increased the Minimum support price of the crops by 1.5 times of their actual cost due to which farmers had sown more ‘makka’ and ‘bajra’ crops. Therefore, the Department would purchase about one lakh metric tonnes (MT) of bajra and 15,000 MT makka, this year, which would be distributed to people under PDS, the Minister added.
