Opp demands justice for Deoria victims

As the horrific case of   sexual exploitation of minor  children at a shelter home in Deoria , Uttar Pradesh, came to light close to a similar horror  that surfaced in Muzaffarpur in Bihar, the Opposition on Tuesday was again up on its feet demanding   justice for ‘44 Nirbhayas’  in Deoria and  investigation in all  ‘shelter homes’ in the country.

Twenty-four girls were rescued from a  so-called shelter home in Deoria in Uttar Pradesh after allegation of sexual exploitation of the inmates came to light a few days ago when a minor girl escaped from the so called ‘shelter home’ and  ran out to a police station.  As many as 18 inmates are reportedly missing.

Responding to the issue Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh termed the incident shameful and declared that no culprit would escape action. He  also told the Lok Sabha that two senior officials of the state government were probing the matter.

On the action taken, he said the district administrative officer has been suspended and the manager of the shelter home as well as her husband have been arrested.

Additional Chief Secretary and a Director General level officer are probing the case, Rajnath  said. Home Minister congratulated UP  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his prompt action in the case.
